The starting point of the architecture: it describes how the organization creates, transforms, delivers and transfers value. It comprises the service portfolio (what it does), the business structure (how it organizes) and the ontological model (which concepts it handles).
It is worth not confusing this with a business plan. The plan projects figures; the model describes the mechanism that produces them. When a transformation fails, it is almost always because the expected figures were changed without touching the mechanism.
