Happy path

The main trajectory of a process, in which everything happens as planned and without exceptions.

The main trajectory of a process, in which everything happens as planned and without exceptions. It should be legible at a glance, because it is the reference against which variants and exceptional paths are understood.

It should be readable at a glance, and that is a design criterion rather than an accident. When exceptions are drawn intertwined with the normal course, nobody can explain the process in a meeting — and what cannot be explained is not governed.
