Event log

Also called: event logs

A structured trail in which each process instance records case, activity, timestamp, user and action.

A structured trail in which each process instance records case, activity, timestamp, user and action. It is the raw material for process mining and is produced natively when the process runs on the platform.

Its three minimum columns — case, activity and timestamp — decide whether process mining is possible at all. Many systems record what happened without recording which case it belongs to, and that is where the discipline stops.
