AI applications in ITSM

Also called: AI in ITSM · AI-powered ITSM · AITSM

The use of AI — classification, prediction, grounded answers, agents — inside IT service management practices, and the market that evaluates it.

AI applications in ITSM is the analyst framing for artificial intelligence applied inside IT service management: classifying and routing tickets, predicting breaches before they happen, answering users from the knowledge base with citations, summarising long case histories, and — at the frontier — resolving routine requests with agents. Gartner evaluates the space alongside its ITSM platforms market, and the capability has become the axis on which ITSM vendors differentiate.

Because every vendor now claims it, the evaluation discipline is what matters. Three questions separate the offerings: where the models run and whose data trains them; what evidence each AI intervention leaves for an auditor; and whether anything external ever assessed the capability, or the claim rests on the vendor's word. Certification schemes have begun to cover this ground — AI Capability is now an assessable PinkVERIFY process — which gives buyers, for the first time, a third-party answer to the third question.
