Strategy map

A representation of an organization's objectives connected by explicit cause-and-effect relationships.

A representation of an organization's objectives connected by explicit cause-and-effect relationships. It is essentially a set of hypotheses; the traceability chain makes them testable by interposing capabilities, services and executable processes between objective and indicator.

Its value lies in the cause-and-effect relationships, not in the list of objectives. A map whose arrows nobody can justify with data is a diagram of wishes, and it shows when one objective is met while the one supposedly driving it never moves.
