Intelligent business process management suite — a BPM platform extended with analytics, decision management, integration and AI capabilities.

An iBPMS — intelligent business process management suite — is a business process management platform extended with the capabilities that turned BPM from a modelling discipline into an execution one: real-time analytics, decision management, enterprise integration, human task management and, in current usage, AI-assisted work. The term was popularised by Gartner, which retired its iBPMS Magic Quadrant and folded the space into broader automation categories; QKS Group and other firms still evaluate the market under this name.

When a requirements document asks for an iBPMS, the practical checklist behind the word is stable: an executable process engine (usually BPMN), a way for business and IT to change processes without programming, native integration, measurable service levels, and monitoring computed on live execution rather than on exports. The suffix "intelligent" has shifted meaning over the years — from embedded analytics to embedded AI — so it is always worth asking which of the two a given evaluation means.
