The principle that when a methodological rule can be implemented as a native platform control, the control is preferred over the procedure. Conformance does not depend on people remembering the rule, but on the system making violation difficult and leaving evidence when it occurs.
Its advantage over governance by review is coverage. A board reviews a sample when it remembers to; a native control evaluates every case, always, without depending on anyone remembering.
